Story Telling Sells

Written by Becypher on Friday, August 10th, 2007 in Selling, Tips and Tutorials.

“I bought a pair of shoes but my wife unknowingly bought the same exact model… So I am selling this one pair.”

“You know what?, I was able to compose 3 songs in one sitting using this classic guitar. This one might be magical…”

Get it?

A dose of personal stories on your item destination might spell the difference between SOLD and NOT SOLD. These personal stories or item backgrounds make the prospect bidder excited and help them finish what’s up for bid/sale. (more…)

Oh The Pain Of Selling Below Costs

Written by ShopOne on Monday, August 6th, 2007 in Selling, Tips and Tutorials.

Have you ever listed an item way below your purchase price? If yes, don’t pout, don’t be sad. You are not alone. All of us sellers who sell physical goods go thru this and it’s a pain.

Just last week, I sold 3 sets of COBY DVD Player for only P5200. Where, the purchase price of that model was around P7500.00. The later models of that player is only P5400.00, we had no option but to dive. (more…)

P300 – A nice price point in selling items online

Written by ShopOne on Monday, August 6th, 2007 in Selling, Tips and Tutorials.

I just read an article saying that in U.S., $19.95 seems to be the magic price. You’ll see this in infomercials, email offers and even sp@ms. Even the products that go over $100, they make it a point to break the payments into $19.95.

Marketers feel that, Americans usually have spare $20 lying around. Very likely, this $20 is ready for that “quick and unplanned purchases”. And why, $19.95? Why have that 95 cent kicker? They use that for that “discount” or “sale” effect. At online classifieds sites, sellers also use that to get attention. Sub-consciously, the potential buyer is thinking, this some kind of a good deal.

Then I began to wonder, what’s the nice tipping price point for Filipino online sellers? What’s the best price to work with to get that quick orders? (more…)

How to BLOCK unwanted eBayers from future listings?

Written by ShopOne on Friday, August 3rd, 2007 in Tips and Tutorials.

Once buyer and seller give each other reciprocal negative feedbacks, one suggested step to do is block each other (primarily the seller does this) accounts from conducting future bids/transaction/trades.

Thereby preventing further mess between the two accounts. As I know for a fact, that many of those (usually buyers) who receive counter negative feedback from sellers aint satisfied with ONE negative. They want more. They’ll go for the kill. (more…)

Graphical Feedbacks

Written by ShopOne on Thursday, June 14th, 2007 in Tips and Tutorials.

It is recommended that you give personalized feedbacks and comments at eBay but sometimes, buyers and sellers are all busy doing other things to actually take time and be personal. Thus, some are guilt of copy-paste feedbacks. To completely not hack others’ personalized comments and feedback, why not try these graphical feedbacks (which I copy and pasted too). Some samples below, if you have some, feel free to add up.

Picture this, you need pictures to sell more

Written by ShopOne on Sunday, May 27th, 2007 in Tips and Tutorials.

It amazes me when I see a seller putting something on sale without a picture. Like, they are expecting our imagination to see what’s on sale.

Hey, as the saying goes, a picture tells a thousand words. So in selling, it is imperative to enhance your listings with images.

If ever you have more than one picture, it is suggested that you include more on your auctions or items for sale. The more photos you uploaded, the more chances of closing out sale. As much as possible, you should show multiple angle shots. (more…)

Alternative to eBay Selling, Build Your Own Site

Written by ShopOne on Tuesday, April 24th, 2007 in Selling, Tips and Tutorials.

For Philippine auction site sellers, there are alternatives to eBay.com (eBay.ph), Auction.ph and Bidshot.com, That is, the creation of seller’s own store.

If you are a start-up seller, establishing your own simple e-commerce site might cost you 50,000 pesos to 100,000 pesos ($1000 to $2000) if you’ll have it made by a web developer. So, having someone do the online store from ground up for you is not an option early on.

But having an online store of your own to complement your auctions or posts is suggested. You could start now using free hosted sites like freewewebs or geocitites. Just to test and practice your site building skills. If ever you want to go to the next level, try paid hosting. (more…)

Postal ZIP Code of the Philippines

Written by ShopOne on Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 in Tips and Tutorials.

Though Philippine postal system is still billion years away compared the U.S. Post system, online sellers and buyers may still want to have a handy soft copy of Postal ZIP code of the Philippines.

For one, Air21 and LBC don’t rely much on Zip codes to get the delivery done. Barangay or Barrio name along with the Town / City and Province are still the keys. (more…)
