Group buying sites in the Philippines

Written by ShopOne on Thursday, January 20th, 2011 in Our News.

Inspired by Groupon, this is “in” biz in the e-commerce world in the Philippines, group buying sites! Remember when classifieds sites were popping like crazy few years back dreaming of being the next SULIT (AHEM), well now, group buying site in the Philippines is the hot online business model of the moment. Even though they flood my email inbox with daily deals like spa and crispy pata, I’ll list some of the group buying sites I frequent.

New Philippine Blogs Directory

Written by ShopOne on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 in Our News.

Last week, the owners of topblogs.com.ph launched another Philippine blog related project. It’s the Weblogs.com.ph.  We use their topblogs site, and most likely, we’ll list our sites too on this brand new Philippine Blogs Directory.

While the point of TopBlogs.com.ph was to rank sites according to the raw traffic they got, Weblogs.com.ph will be the de-facto blog directory for the Philippines. It will have features TopBlogs.com.ph does not have, such as related blogs, the current buzz, and
more. All blogs will be manually approved (something also coming to TopBlogs.com.ph soon), and old and defunct blogs will be promptly removed.  Add your blog to http://Weblogs.com.ph now.

Buy and Sell Plus Philippines Now Up Again

Written by ShopOne on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 in Our News.

Good news, our friends at BNSP have reloaded the site again. With what seems to be a new layout and possibly, new functinalities for our buying & selling pleasure. The site was down for renov this past weeks. I hope the new system is stable and hope it rocks. I’ve been a supporter of this site from way way way back, early part of this decade it is. The owners have been good to me, they have our site right on their frontpage as “partner,” they have “me” as a featured seller, they’ve given me discounts for paid ads, free wallet loads and a terrific Nokia phone prize as well! And they offer unlimited number of ads (VERY UNLIKE NOTAYOSDOON.COM). Check it out for yourself, the site looks neat and working. I will re-check them out right about now. http://www.buyandsellplus.com

Sulit Is Tres!

Written by ShopOne on Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 in Our News.

Wow, time flies! And as time flew… this Sulit.com.ph site grew!

Here are some Sulit.com.ph bits as lifted from here.

  • Sulit.com.ph is now at the top 20 of the most popular websites in the Philippines and the only local company according to Alexa
  • We now have more than 480K members who posted more than 1.6M ads, 1.7M ads messages, 2.7M private messages and 2.4M forum posts
  • More than 6M unique visitors browsed Sulit.com.ph generating more than 60M pageviews monthly
  • From my room three years ago, we are now operating Sulit.com.ph in a new office in UnionBank Plaza, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

In celebrating the 3 years of sulit lemme share 3 things too…

  1. Among the big players of Philippine online ads marketplace, we get the best sales & results from Sulit.
  2. Because I admire the Sulit.com.ph website, for the heck of it, I played around and tried tested (tested is the more fitting word) creating my own classifieds site, BLOZOOM.com (sadly, the project is put on hold because of other projects giving me more ka-chings. I made a directory too… Bizikat.com. Check ‘em out.
  3. I have over 350 ad posts at Sulit.com.ph; with 23 positive feedbacks; 180,000 ad views (can you believe that awesome power of Sulit!)

Furniture Online Site?

Written by ShopOne on Saturday, August 29th, 2009 in Our News.

Just one little milestone at Leoque website. We have posted 499 juicylicious posts encompassing our furniture products, displays & accents, some fun photo shots of products, a bit of industry tips and news, interesting site links… and more.

And so, we got 500 posts now!

With just a little over half a year, we get to be at half-kilo posts. On average, we are producing over 2 and half posts per day. I’m just lazy to dig, but I know, there are over 2000 copyrighted photos at site, all photographed and processed by us. Over 400 pieces of distinct & different items-for-sale scattered all throughout the four hundred ninety nine posts.

But wait, there’s more…

The back-end part of doing this online furniture shop, that’s also a handful. Making sure that the plug-ins are working, the contact form, doing back-ups, the pages are showing up correctly, ads are all good and more.

I’ll tell you, making a shop-blog for furniture is not for the faint-hearted. Kids, don’t try this at home.

Marketers always have the statement… “we are the fastest growing network…,” “we are the fastest growing food chain…,” etc… well, we are positive, the House of Leoque furniture website, is one of the fastest growing weblogs-con-shop in the Philippines. And this site will only get bigger, bolder and better.

Here’s to another 500 posts!

Sulit Forum, Omega

Written by ShopOne on Friday, July 10th, 2009 in Our News.

Check out this post from the hardworking admin of Sulit.com.ph.

We would like to inform everyone that we will be retiring Sulit.com.ph Forum soon. It is our regret to say goodbye with this forum as this really becomes our home for almost 3 years and we can never deny that we had so much fun using it. I actually cannot remember a single day that I never visited the forum to take a look on what’s happening within the Sulit Community or what is the new buzz with our Sulitizens.

The main reason for closing this forum is that it has already become the bottleneck of our system in terms of performance and resources. A few of you know that this forum is an open source application which I integrated to the main website. The benefit was that I save a lot of time back then and was able to concentrate my effort to the main website which I believe is good to Sulit.com.ph overall. The disadvantage is that I was limited to the changes that I can apply to the forum especially in optimizing its performance. Features implementation also become limited. With the continuous increase of our users, we believe that it is best for Sulit.com.ph to close this forum as it is already affecting much of our core product which is the classified ads system. It will be sad to leave this forum behind but we believe that it is the best for everyone.

We users were uneasy of the many possible major changes that could happen after the the buy. Could the “close out” of Sulit Forum be the first of many more changes inside Sulit. We can only hope of changes for the better.

BTW, I am not a heavy user of that forum anyways. With forum posts like… “Anu ang almusal mo kanina?” or “Sino dito ang gising pa?” or “Sinabunutan ako ng karibal kong MLM”… a reload of Sulit Forum is very much welcome. I just hope for a more intelligent forum though. And not forum comments & entries just for the benefit SC (sulit currency) gains.

Good luck Sulit team! Keep up the good work! We need you! We love you! =)

Official Sulit.com.ph Statement Regarding the BUY

Written by ShopOne on Friday, July 3rd, 2009 in Our News.

Late last night, a topic was posted by one of our dear Sulitizens asking if Sulit.com.ph was indeed Sold. Eventually, the news came from a prominent Filipino blogger who got his confirmation from a Twitter account of a Filipino serial tech entrepreneur.

So what is the real deal behind this news?

It is no secret that Sulit.com.ph has a tremendous growth for the past 2 years and most of you know that Arianne (bigbucks) and I (being the founders) are doing our best to give a top notch service that we can offer our members and visitors. But eventually, there will be a limit on what we can physically provide and we believe that our users deserve more.

Not AyosDoon

Written by ShopOne on Friday, June 19th, 2009 in Our News.

My ads were refused by Ayosdito.ph rep and this is the reason:

Ads that are inserted by companies, or multiple ads by individuals for commercial purposes are not permitted on AyosDito.ph except in the following categories: Properties, Vehicles, Jobs, Services, and B2B. To create a fair marketplace, other categories are currently restricted to individuals.

I sent Ayosdito.ph a note…Wrong grammaricious included…

Hello

I find it weird & incorrect that you are refusing my ads for that reason.

Where and when in fact your site is promoting online selling & trading. It’s like it is my fault that I registered my business and do this online posting at a marketplace sites.

It’s like you are limiting your users, and telling your users that hey, aside from Properties, Vehicles, Jobs, Services, and B2B, we do not want you to go big, be a company and still be with AYOSDITO. It’s like you’re saying you cannot grow your business with us. Your terms are so wrong.

Ads that are inserted by companies, or multiple ads by individuals for ommercial purposes are not permitted on AyosDito.ph except in the following categories: Properties, Vehicles, Jobs, Services, and B2B. To create a fair marketplace, other categories are currently restricted to individuals.

Eh? Multiple ads by a company for COMMERCIAL PURPOSES are not permitted? What’s your site for then? Filipino sellers do posting for commercial purposes.

Fair marketplace? What’s unfair with us working our butt off to post properly, with images and specs for your site’s google crawling delight? If others really want to do good on your marketplace, then why aren’t they posting ALL their items, be it company or individual. Who’s preventing them? Nobody. Ahh maybe your terms.

What’s unfair? If they are lazy, don’t put the blame on us. If nobody is posting items on a particular category, don’t fault the one who has the item to post and floods that category with NON-MULTIPLE ADS.

Your site is weird.

I am not at all angry, and in fact can still do without your site. Just saying my point.

If you refused my ad, saying that, hey we limit volume of post say 50 items per user, that’s fine. Or say, we limit 10 post per day to have balanced posting, that’s fine.

Review your policy.

Adios!

I received a reply. I’d rather not post the whole reply. Basically saying, that their terms & conditions are not hard & fast rules still. And that, things can be considered.  But I lost my interest on that site. There are other marketplace websites that stable, tested & that aren’t weird… ebay.ph, sulit.com.ph, auction.ph being the major players.

Online Furniture Shopping in the Philippines

Written by ShopOne on Saturday, May 30th, 2009 in Our News.

Discount Furniture Store in the Philippines

Turning your house into a dream home doesn’t have to be mission impossible. It doesn’t have to empty your wallet or max out your credit card limit. The choice doesn’t have to be limited to few mainstream furniture stores in the Philippines.

Today, extremely affordable furniture can be had via alternative furniture store like say, ahem, House of Leoque. A discount furniture or affordable furniture store like Leoque doesn’t mean it is offering sub standard furniture, hastily made furniture, etc.

In fact, as a furniture store in the Philippines, Leoque have been supplying hundreds & hundred of furniture pieces/units, some of which are being shipped/cargoed across the Philippines, in different cities/provinces. We’ve supplied hotels, condos, single detached housing units, bargain furniture hunters, interior designers, contractors, wholesale furniture orders, etc…. a testament to the quality of Philippine furniture we supply.

Why an online furniture store like LEOQUE is able to price their furniture low and yet offer great furniture collection?

It is possible that operational costs are cut, thus, these cuts are being passed on to the clients & buyers. Savings could possibly come from renting a smaller showroom (not renting at SM Malls, Ayala Malls, etc.), great inventory system & logistics, outsourcing other works/jobs/specializations, employing compact but skilled pack of designers, craftsmen & wood workers in the pool, utilizing the power of the internet as marketing vehicle, great sourcing of raw materials, maximizing the workforce output, efficient management, etc. All these are factors why affordable & good-quality products are laid on the table, so to speak.

There is a demand for discount furniture & sale furniture, and Leoque should be able to cater to this demand. The hunt is on for great & affordable furniture pieces. And with the fact that online furniture discount stores are plentiful in  the Philippines, we’re positive, you’ll be able to get your furniture requirements in no time. By the way, In your search for Philippine furniture online store, I sure hope you find Leoque Furniture. :-)
