    eBay.ph Email Notification Bug

Written by ShopOne on Monday, June 25th, 2007 in News & Reports, Our News.

    It’s confirmed. It’s a news.

The eBay.ph community (as detected by 6 users I know) is experiencing a bug.

The eBay.ph system is not sending email notification. The all-important eBay.ph email notification is not being sent by the system. Even the listing confirmation email, nothing.

What could happen? Not only you could lose some sales, it’s possible too that you’ll get a negative feedback from agitated and over zealous ebayers. Specifically from the dreaded eBay.ph noobs. The type who registers today, bids today, wins tomorrow and gives negative feedback in 3 days. I have been victimized by these awful bunch. (more…)

    eBay Playground

Yes, it’s eBay playing around with the site. But rather than executing new features site wide, they do it in the eBay Playground.

It’s sort of eBay Beta that concurrently runs with the main eBay site. Mind you, buying and selling at eBay Playground is live. So, don’t play around. (more…)

    eBay Hits Back Google

Written by ShopOne on Friday, June 15th, 2007 in News & Reports.

    Here’s the story…

Google has this “Google Checkout.” A direct competitor to eBay.com’s PayPal. eBay bans the use of Google Checkout at all eBay sites worldwide. Reasoning that, Google is not yet tested and hasn’t been around for a while.

Google had this marketing stunt of having Google Checkout FREEDOM PARTY that was deliberately set to run at the same time and at the same vicinity of eBay.com’s eBay Live! in Boston. (more…)

    eBay Bans iPhone Pre-Selling

Written by ShopOne on Thursday, June 14th, 2007 in News & Reports.

eBay is preventing the re-occurrence of pre-selling hot items with no guarantee that a seller will be able to acquire the item during launch of “hot” products.

This thing happened prior to the release of Playstation 3. A lot of PS3 pre-sales listings sprung up and with limited items during the launch days of PlayStation 3, a lot of buyers were not able to get their winning items.

And so last week, eBay has banned all pre-sales of Apple iPhone. Below is the official eBay note: (more…)

    Yahoo! Says Goodbye To Auctions

Written by ShopOne on Saturday, May 12th, 2007 in News & Reports.

Whoa, Yahoo.com just announced that they will be shutting down Yahoo Auctions, North American services (Canada and US). Surprise? Don’t be.

Yahoo! closing out a service may seem a big news, but this is really not a surprise. With only .19% of U.S. market compared to the eBay’s share of 94% and the fact that Yahoo! and eBay are tied up in the cooperative business deals (advertising, search, etc.), it’s not really worth supporting and developing an minuscule annex service. Check Out Cool eBay ToGo Widgets

Written by ShopOne on Monday, May 7th, 2007 in News & Reports.

eBay has this new widget that lets users embed item listing (single item, multiple items, search results) on their web pages, social network web pages and blogs. A la YouTube embedding.

Note that this is not a money making deal. Not this type and not this type. The main purpose of the widget is to generate discussion about a chosen eBay item. Just to have fun really. Saw some nice stuff and you want to let others find out about this, use this cool widget. (more…)
