Ateneo – La Salle Tickets Available Over at eBay Philippines

Written by Becypher on Friday, September 19th, 2008 in News & Reports, Selling.

My, my, the hottest tickets in town finally made its way over at eBay Philippines. Via Cheftonio, the Ateneo – La Salle tickets links at eBay are here, here and here.

For these incoming finals games, The PNP is really strict on scalpers and already few are caught and charged. But, it looks like if you do sell over in the interwebs and jack up the price 1000%, that’s not scalping but online enterprising geniuses. :-) Sosi kasi if via eBay, rather than be at the gates of Araneta and sway your tickets for sale.

Via TJ Manotoc…

A few enterprising ones who were blessed with more tickets than they need have gone online, offering their spare tickets on eBay Philippines.

One such vendor is offering his Upper Box A seat for a minimum of P6,000, a seat that has a face value of P250. There is even one vendor selling a package of tickets for Game 1 and 2, even though Game 2 tickets have yet to be released. Selling of tickets on eBay online is legal and an accepted practice in the US where eBay made its name.

As for eBay Philippines, they specified this: “eBay permits resale of tickets to entertainment events (including sporting events, concerts, and plays) to the fullest extent permitted by law.”

But that’s only a handful of tickets so far online, and so far only 1 bidder for an Upper Box B ticket selling at a minimum P1,500. The real action happens with the real life scalpers. And the bulk of the scalpering activity does not happen right outside the venue on game day as most people think.

Craig’s List

Written by Becypher on Monday, September 8th, 2008 in Linked News, News & Reports.

Some notes I got while reading a Craiglist article.

  • You know this already, but Craig Newmark founded Craigslist.
  • Craiglist is often blamed by print newspapers for declining newspaper ads business. (This is equivalent to someday having Manila Bulletin blaming Sulit.com.ph for a loss of ads revenue. I have a separate blog entry about another sold item via Sulit. I sold my car via sulit. Check later.)
  • Craiglist is the 7th most popular site in the US of A. (more…)

Sulit Royal Admins Exhange Vows

Written by ShopOne on Friday, August 15th, 2008 in News & Reports.

Here’s a forum post by POWERSHOPPERINC. I agree, despite the success of Sulit, admins have humility and are trying to be as low profile as they can be.

At exactly 10:10 AM, on August 11, 2008, St. Clement Church, in the Artist Capital of the Philippines, Angono, Rizal; Bigbucks and Admin exchanged vows. It was a closed family affair and a very simple yet very meaningful wedding. Even the officiating priest, Father Arnel, came all the way down from Antipolo to officiate, also a close family friend. Balita Pinoy, which has been in operation for two years, is launching several free services to benefit Filipinos.

This is meant for both those in the Philippines and the estimated 10 million who live and work abroad.

Originally designed as “hard” news service for the Philippine Overseas Workers, Balita Pinoy has gained a strong readership both within the Philippines and more popularly with the Filipinos who are abroad. The factual reporting and news which is constantly updated is seen as the greatest draw. (more…)

Twitter Account For Sale @ eBay.com

Written by ShopOne on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in News & Reports.

Jason Miller of WPN ponders many questions with the (no-)use of Twitter.

What is it? What is it used for? What is its potential? What are the limits? Who else is using it and why? What can we learn from it? Should I be using it too? Is it okay if I walk away from it?

See article here.

From same article, he reports one Andrew Baron is selling his account. (more…)

Withdraw Paypal funds to your local bank account

Written by ShopOne on Monday, January 28th, 2008 in Money Transfer, News & Reports.

Just got this from my inbox… Paypal funds via local bank now A-OK.

No need for VISA, or EON and what not to get funds from Paypal account. Now, easily withdraw funds from your next door friendly local bank accounts, ie, Metrobnk, PCI-BDO, BPI, Unionbank, etc.

And the killer c’mon, Best of all, in case you’d pull-out P7000 or more, no bank fee at all. Only for amounts lower than P7000, you’ll be charged P50. At P50, that’s still pretty cheap.

The Jan 26 eBay Announcement below…

We’re excited to announce the launch of a new withdrawal feature, allowing you to withdraw funds from your PayPal account directly to your Philippine bank account. This new feature will enable Philippine sellers, such as yourselves, to gain fast and convenient access to your money, making doing business on eBay even easier.

Additionally, registered Philippine PayPal members can still use the existing PayPal withdrawal options such as withdrawal to a Visa debit card, credit card, prepaid card, or US bank account.

Stay tuned! We have more exciting features to come in 2008!

And so eBay Over-bided

Written by ShopOne on Thursday, October 25th, 2007 in Linked News, News & Reports.

Via Techcrunch… eBay bought SKYPE for a huge chunk in the hopes of integrating the SKYPE VOIP at eBay scheme of things. What eBay managers did not foresee is, having seller and buyer being able to communicate realt-ime using SKYPE, they could transact without going thru eBay. Thus, no eBay Sales Cut! So the plan to integrate SKYPE to eBay has been shelved. And I thought Whitman and company are all geniuses. Now, they are still justifying the SKYPE purchase with statement like, “In this business the cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of making a mistake.”
