Oooops I did it again.

Last week, I was able to sell my car via the internet. I posted on 3 sites (Multiply, Sulit & eBay.ph). Literally, within minutes, I was able to get inquiries. And just 3 days later, the car is sold.

Talk about the power of the internet. Eraserheads have this song “SUPER PROXY,” and the classic eheads tune talks about the internet. “Ito ang kailangan mo, idial ang telepono.” (Still dial-up modem back in the mid 90s). Really true, internet, we really need. Well, no need to dial the phone now considering much of the internet pop are going DSL & highspeed internet.

For the record, the buyer who bought my car is Sulit.com.ph referred. Last Friday, he paid and I cried. Nahh.

3 years ago, I was able to sell our old car to and you guessed it, via internet as well. It was via BUYNSELLPLUS.com.

More than ever (12 years or so after Eraserheads penned the song), indeed, internet is now a SUPER PROXY. No need for an agent, no need 3rd party car dealer, no nothing. Just post/sell the thing why doncha.

Some tips in selling car online…

  • Write the best possible specs and sales speech you can make.
  • Load as many pictures as possible. Choose the best ones.
  • If you feel the parts are positives, take a shot of the following… engine room, the tires (mags), muffler area, interior, front shot – camera aimed low, full rear & side views, etc. Just e creative. Remember, you are selling a car.
  • Study the maket price of your car.
  • Give a little margin for last price requests. You know Filipinos don’t buy things without tawad (little price cut). Give a little margin say 10 to 20k. So if you give them that cut, they’ll think they are getting the coveted bargain and they’ll give you a check soon.
  • During pick up / check up of item, please be honest with what you got. Tell everything (ok not everything but the thing that matters). Just be cautious as well, never give the key and the auto if the funds aint cleared or cash still not in your bag.

So there you go. Good luck on your car selling via the internet.

Oh wait, I forgot, make sure you post your car on both general classifieds sites and niche car/auto sites. That way, you’ll have more exposure. (BEST BET: Your car will be sold via the general ads site than a niche car site.)
