Busted or Confirmed? Sulit Ads Not Getting The Views

Written by Becypher on March 3rd, 2008 in Our News, Selling.

I’ve been getting Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters reruns daily at noontime. Right now, I got this Mythbusters fever. And so I am doing Shop.Blink.Ph test, Mythbuster style.

One chick emailed me a myth claiming that despite Sulit.com.ph tremendous traffic / number of visitors, her ads is not getting the views. Via Sulit’s classifieds Management, you’ll see the page or ad views of an advertisement. Or via clicking an ad, it displays the number of times it has been viewed.

She says, Sulit.com.ph ads are not getting enough pageviews as the users are “flooding” the site with unlimited number of ads per user. And, with postings up to 90 days (with subsequent non-auto and auto-reposting), the Sulit.com.ph has more ads that we can all humanly possible view. Compared to that of eBays, where ads are gone after the max day of 10 days (minimum of 1 day), and so any site search by one user will lead them to a fresh posts in a week.

Onto my test.

Experimenting, I posted one ad per Buy and Sell. I used 4 websites. Sulit.com.ph, eBay.ph, Buynsellplus.com and ahem, ahem, BLOZOOM.com. In the spirit of fair play and so that, no other factor would come in, I posted almost same time (except eBay), same day and I posted same title. The advertisement title is “2GB SD Memory Card.” I posted the ad on Feb 20, 2008.

No extra push for ad views were done like posting it at Sulit feature boxes (side bar and at top bar). No use of Buy And Sell Plus’ featured items hotgrabs and no use of eBay’s extra pictures, bold post, etc. Basic posting, I did.

After 11-12 days of waiting, the results are in. This is plus or minus 2 as I myself could have inflicted one or two pageviews.

Sulit.com.ph post – 22 views

Blozoom.com post – 22 views

Buy and Sell Plus – 15 Views

Unfortunately, eBay.ph counter doesn’t seem to work so we dont have stat for eBay. If you are selling online, this is not a post saying you should ditch the use of other sites to another site. But the thing is, I think you should still consider posting at other sites not named Sulit.com.ph and eBay.ph to maximize the chance of selling or closing a deal. The test is not scientific and I use only one item. Try testing it yourself with other items, with other categories even with other buy and sell sites as well. BTW, this test we are doing for our own understanding and learning. Just sharing this info to you folks out there.
