Online stores are becoming more and more popular these days. With gas price sky rocketing and the city traffic jams is at its worst, online shopping malls are the mall of choice these days. Especially in U.S.

In the states, sites likes Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City and other smaller entities are raking sales in every category you can think of. Books, foods, gadgets, services, computers, home and décor and all other stuff.

Here in the Philippines, we got the Ayalas with their own store. E-2Door, eBuy Philippines, PhilRegalo has been around. We too, have been doing online selling for a while now. We have developed ecBuyph.com in 2004 and we have made eviraMALL.com too. Due to time management and the management as well, eviraMALL.com hasn’t been updated quite as often as it needs to be. But the plan is, we will be re-launching and updating the site once again. Check it out often.

Going back to the concept of online shopping, it is quite a treat really to go under one site that has large number stocks and wide variety of items. The experience, if the site is well designed and well-stocked, would be just the same as going in a large department store. Say, the SM Store, Rustans or even Makro. With online shopping, you wouldn’t need to drive or commute. You will just wait for the store delivery or courier at your doorstep.

Of course, there are some negatives in every aspect of things. For online shopping here in the Philippines, drawbacks are, high cost of processing a card payment (or even the lack of it), automated or ticketed email support, the risk of using your card over the net, late deliveries anf of course the fact that you are buying things without physically checking out things.

Also, the limited items for sale is a factor. If you really intend to get your groceries, some vegetables, cake, a digital camera, photo printing you will have to deal with a couple of online stores to get the job, err, shopping done.

But the online shopping in the Philippines will not go anywhere, it is bound to improve and we are here to cover the developments.
