Printing Your Flickr Photos Just Got Easier

This development (pun intended), will allow Flickr users in the Philippines to order direct prints online thru Picatoo. As Picatoo was able to get a license from Flicker/Yahoo to integrate its services with the photo site – Flickr, life is a little easier for Philippine photo enthusiasts.
All that is about to change. Picatoo, the online photo developing service of Mozcom and Fuji YKL, has good news for Flickr users in the Philippines. It has recently been granted by Flickr a commercial license to integrate Picatoo with its service. This is most likely the first and only commercial license in the Philippines today. What this technically means is Picatoo is now capable of downloading your images directly from Flickr to its servers, and make it immediately available for printing. There is no more need to go about the run-around process of re-downloading from Flickr; and re-uploading to Picatoo.
“This new feature gives unsurpassed convenience to our customers and lets him quickly do his task – which is to print photos,” explains Dick Chiang, Mozcom COO/CTO. “Re-downloading and re-uploading of images can take half an hour or more even with a DSL connection, especially when you are dealing with high-resolution photos. But now, Picatoo can download your images for you using the full bandwidth of Mozcom’s data center.” Photos no longer have to travel from Flickr to your PC; then from your PC to Picatoo. It goes straight from Flickr to Picatoo. Thus, it is no longer restricted by the customer’s DSL connection.
Picatoo is owned by Mozcom and operates the photo printing in partnership with Fuji YKL. Fuji YKL is one of the major photo development shops that is making the necessary transition to the digital format. And by now, you already know that Flickr is owned by Yahoo!
My guess is, Flickr will not be the last site that Picatoo will do business with. Other popular image/photo site like Photobucket might be in the horizon.
