Pick: Low Price From Lazy Seller or Higher Price from eBay Veteran

Written by ShopOne on Saturday, December 15th, 2007 in Buying.

Selling at eBay or any other auction/classified sites is cutthroat business. With internet connectivity getting cheaper by day, more and more are jumping on the opportunity to sell online. Everyday, new sellers (tons of copycats too, they copy even the terms of post, the description, specs, products and all) enter the field each day.

But in buying, if you see good price, hold your horses, err, mouse. Be careful on clicking that “BUY NOW” and “BID NOW” buttons.

Other newbie sellers, they are known to undercut prices of the more established sellers just to get a piece of the pie.

Think about this… Choose your item… An MP3 player priced P3000 by a newbie seller with zero feedback versus P3300 being sold by a seller with 500 feedbacks and 99% rating. (more…)

Classifiedsph.com – It’s All In Here (They Claim)

Written by ShopOne on Saturday, December 8th, 2007 in Featured Sites.

The registration is easy. Only six form fields need to be accomplished (email, password, confirm pw, name, surname and the captcha). Then, check the Terms and COnditions. Read it man, it’s short anyways.

I did register.

The problem was, I received the “Account Activated” email some days after I registered. So. I tried it now.
The interface gives control panel where you could choose the activity you prefer (like, post ads, revise your profile, invite a friend, etc.)

In posting, I notice the limited category and sub category options. Say, in selling MP3 Player, you gotta choose “PRODUCTS” then “COMPUTERS and GADGETS.” That’s it. No more categorization after that. Kinda broad. But hey, free listing, it is. See my sample live post below and later. (more…)

Stolen Goods @ Online Auctions

Written by ShopOne on Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 in Linked News.

The iPod that was such a steal just might have been stolen.

The availability of auction sites like eBay has made things easy for thieves. To investigate the sale of stolen items, “You’d have to pore through thousands in order to find the item you’re looking for,” Coralville police Lt. Shane Kron said.

It’s impossible to say how much stolen property is fenced online, or whether the amount is increasing, local police say. The lack of data makes it difficult to determine how the relatively new Internet auction sites compare with more traditional fencing outlets.

Unless the stolen goods are unusual, as in two recent Corridor-related cases in which alleged thieves are accused of unloading specialty items to which they had access, they simply disappear into the cacophonic collection of items up for bid. Full Story>>>

eBay Says… This Replica Should Go

Written by ShopOne on Monday, December 3rd, 2007 in Selling.

m-CLIP MP3 Player New! Music-CLIP or M-CLIP is a cloned iPod Shuffle MP3 Player. The lightest portable audio player you could own. Yes, clip it on and do your task like brisk walking, while at work, study, library or even in the gym, working out.

We will now have this new segment, called, “eBay Says…”

A late night email check got me to know that the item above is not allowed for post/sale at eBay. Well, though I have good amount of stocks of this model, I just have to accept the rules. eBay is just protecting the overall buying and selling experience at site. Protecting the trademark owners too. In this case, Apple and iPod coz the item above is a shuffle cloned mp3 player. They are protecting themselves too for possible lawsuits.

I’ll just post the item here.

eBay info about counterfeit and trademark here.

Written by ShopOne on Tuesday, November 27th, 2007 in Our News.

Sulit.com.ph took home the People’s Choice Award under the e-Commerce Category. The 10th Philippine Web Awards was held last November 23, 2007 at Teatrino, Promenade, Greenhills. Other big winners here.

The success of Sulit.com.ph will ultimately benefit the users (I, included) as the owners and developers will surely be more motivated in providing the best possible classifieds site that they can offer. What next now for Sulit.com.ph to up the ante? Payment system perhaps? Or, an escrow service? Or maybe, they will use this success to move on other great things?

Sulit.com.ph admin post about the award here.

My seller account over at Sulit.com.ph is here.

Are Counterfeit Products eBay’s Responsibility?

Written by ShopOne on Saturday, November 17th, 2007 in Linked News.

It’s not big news that counterfeit items can be purchased on eBay but the lawsuit by Tiffany against eBay may be a turning point for the fight against counterfeits at the popular auction website. In his opening statement in the suit, James Swire, a lawyer for Tiffany, said that a full 75% of 325 items that Tiffany has bought on eBay through a buying program the company started in 2004 were counterfeit. That’s a pretty damning statistic. The lawsuit alleges that eBay has failed to stem the tide of counterfeit Tiffany merchandise available for sale on their website. Full Story>>>
